James Clyde Gaston, Sr. of Sautee Nacoochee, GA, formerly of Columbiana County, OH, passed away suddenly on July 9, 2025.
Born January 21, 1938, in Salem, OH, he leaves behind his three children, James Gaston, Jr. (Georgette) of Talking Rock, GA, Deborah Kubina (Joe) of Poland, OH and Dwaine Gaston (Kris) of Sautee Nacoochee, GA, four grandchildren, Taylor Gaston Kirby (Kevin), Joshua Gaston (Holly), Cristy Painter (Charlie) and Heather Rattelade (Dave), 7 great and 1 great-great grandchild. He will be greatly missed by all, including his companion dog, Suzy.
Jim was talented in many areas, someone who could do all aspects of remodeling or building projects you could think up: a man of few words that loved working with his hands. He enjoyed fishing, tractor pulls, auto racing, jeep rodeos, camping, sports and time in his workshop.
He worked for many years in the furniture building industry starting with Cherry Hill, Franklin Furniture and Stearns & Foster. He retired many years ago as Maintenance Superintendent of Beaver Local Schools.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelda Dyke Gaston of Columbiana, OH and his brother, William Gaston, Sr. of Lisbon, OH.
As per Jim's request, there will be no services. He will be interred at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank all the CNA's and staff who cared for, and befriended, Jim, while he was residing in assisted living.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
