James W. Dorsey, Sr

Salem- James W. Dorsey, Sr., 90, passed away Monday afternoon, June 19, 2017 at Essex of Salem II.

Mr. Dorsey was born September 9, 1926 in Century, West Virginia, a son of the late Clyde and Verle Arbogast Dorsey and had lived in this area most of his life.

Jim worked as a machinist for the Bliss Company in Salem. He served in the US Navy during World War II and he had attended Phillips Christian Church.

His wife, the former Geraldine Metcalf, whom he married October 3, 1948 died March 30, 2014.

He is survived by six daughters, Ella Mae Cibula of Salem, Donnis Hink of Salem, Cheryle Sevek of Lisbon, Pamela McArdle of Akron, Nancy Strabala of Columbiana and Betty McFarland of Salem; a son James Dorsey, Jr. of Salem; two sisters, Mary Douglas of Kentucky and Nancy Taylor of Warren; a brother, Robert Dorsey of Panama City, FL; twenty one grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, William Dorsey.

No services are being observed.
