James O. Burkey

Lisbon-James O. Burkey, 75, of State Route 154, died at 9:52 am Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 31, 1939 in Remus, MI, a son of the late Albert V. and Bertha Schultz Burkey and had lived in this area all of his life.

Burkey worked for National Rubber Manufacturers, Inc. for 35 years. He also worked with maintenance at the Rogers Sale. He was a member of East Fairfield United Methodist Church. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. Burkey loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and traveling with his friends to Oak Lodge in Clarion, PA and Jack's Lake, Canada.

He is survived by his wife, the former Linda McCoy, whom he married August 27, 1977; a daughter, Kimberly R. Burkey of Columbiana; two sisters, Lois Morse of Columbiana and Elizabeth (Richard) Beiling of Zephyrhills, FL; a brother, Vernon Burkey of Columbiana; three grandchildren, Olivia Burkey, Kailani Jones and James Jones.

His daughter, Marci Leigh Jones is deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
