James Allen Beckner
New Waterford – James Allen Beckner, 68, of New Waterford, died at 9:29 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at his home.
James was born May 8, 1946 in Youngstown, a son of the late Ray Edwin and Ruth Elizabeth Sheldon Beckner and had lived in this area all of his life. He has been employed as a Radiology Attendant at the Salem Community Hospital, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship, New Waterford. Jim enjoyed college football, Dr. Seuss’s Grinch, and working with Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, the former Cynthia Lou Pew, whom he married April 30, 1985; two daughters, Sarah Mae White of New Waterford and Monica Jo (Michael) Young of Columbiana; a son, Ray Edwin Beckner of New Waterford; two sisters, Barbara Beckner and Linda (Larry) Pupio; and two grandchildren, Kaitlynn Young and Dougie Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Jeff Schoch officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and also one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Operation Christmas Child % Abundant Life Fellowship or Angels for Animals.
