James Barrett

Leetonia-August 24, 2004-James Barrett, age 81, of 369 Pearl Street died Tuesday, August 24, 20024 at 1:40 a.m. of lung cancer at his home.

Mr. Barrett was born March 22, 1923 in Weirton, WV a son of John Barrett and Mattie Barry Adams and had lived here since 1931 coming from Weirton, WV.

He had worked for the maintenance department at National Refractories for 30 years retiring in 1988. He had also worked for Wean Manufacturing in Warren. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia and FOE #1496 in Leetonia where he had served as trustee and treasurer.

He is survived by his wife the former Joan A. Frenger whom he married September 20, 1944; two daughters, Jacqueline (Glenn) Sauerwein of Leetonia and Janice (John) Gregory of Cleveland; two-step brothers, William (Barbara) Adams of Guilford Lake and Blair Adams of Salem; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A son, James P. Barrett is deceased.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2004 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend Edward Brienz officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
