Jack A. McGath

Columbiana - Jack A. McGath, age 57, of Columbiana, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at home, following an extended illness.

He was born on September 30, 1968, in Salem, a son of the late Joann Cross Bell and Wesley “Butch” Bell, Sr.

Jack was a graduate of Leetonia High School and had worked as a janitor for Century Container in Columbiana. He enjoyed taking trips to Mountaineer and playing keno. Jack will be remembered as a “die hard” Pittsburgh Steelers fan who also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and who had a passion for music.

He is survived by his wife, Wavelene “Wave” Strabala McGath, whom he affectionately called his “sexy mama”; children, Amber (Donald) Smith, Jordan McGath, Paris Lotze, Dallas Lotze, and Cheyenne (Dougy) Lotze; two brothers, Scott McGath and John McGath; sister, Katrina McGath, and by five grandchildren, Christian, Abigail, Aaliah, Scarlett, and Miles.

The family will be holding a celebration of Jack’s life on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 2:00pm – 6:00 pm at the Salem VFW Post #892 496 Arch St. Salem, OH 44460.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
