Jack H. Knight

East Palestine, OH-July 14, 2009-Jack H. Knight, 85, of 6818 Carbon Hill Road, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana.

Mr. Knight was born October 22, 1923 in Negley, a son of Lester and Grace Fitzsimmons Knight and had lived in this area all of his life.

Jack was a truck driver for the former Ferris Coal Company for 40 years retiring in 1988. He had also worked for A&A Coal Company. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Glenmoor.

He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Garvin, whom he married October 10, 1942; four daughters, Judy (Dennis) Collins of Southington, Bonnie (Russell) Sherrill and Sherry (Dave) Wright of East Palestine and Patti (Bill) Spaite of Titusville, PA; four sons, Gary (Cecelia) Knight of Grandridge, FL, Jack (Julie) Knight of Pancea, FL, Danny (Jackie) Knight of East Palestine and Jim (Michelle) Knight of Key Largo, FL; 28 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Jean Knight, a son Teddy Leroy Knight; two brothers, Wayne and Thomas Knight and a granddaughter, Denise Ann Collins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor William McCartney officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Clarkson Cemetery.
