East Palestine - May 8, 2005 - Ida Mae Beight, 98, of 511 SR 170, died at 12:17 a.m. Sunday at the Parkside Health Care Center, Columbiana, where she had resided two days.
Mrs. Beight was born May 31, 1906 in Lawrence County, PA, a daughter of Charley and Pearl Sarver Hinely and had lived in this area all of her life and had resided on the family farm since her marriage.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper at O. T. Beight and Sons Monuments and Farm for many years. Prior to that, she had worked for Ohio Bell in the Petersburg office. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Petersburg.
Her husband, Roy Nevin Beight, whom she married August 20, 1928 died September 30, 1987.
She is survived by a daughter in law, Mrs. Retta Beight of Pikeville, TN; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Doll of East Palestine and Mrs. Betty Burkey of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Mrs. Jay (Karen) Service of Lenoir City, TN, Wendy Jackson, of Leetonia, Douglas (Sherry) Beight of Frankfort, IN and Mark (Joan) Beight of East Palestine; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, and her caregiver, Patty Schwartz of New Springfield.
A son, Nevin Beight, three sisters, Bertha Morlan, Hazel Koenig, and Dorothy Jones; and a brother, Frank Hinely are also deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Petersburg, with the Reverend Kenneth G. Hacker officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home, Columbiana from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either the East Palestine Meals on Wheels or the St. John Lutheran Church.
