Listen to Obituary

Sebring - Ida Catignani Arcuri, formerly of East Liverpool and Columbiana, passed peacefully Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Copeland Oaks in Sebring. She was born February 15, 1932 in Vallecupa, in the province of L’Aquila, Italy. Ida held many titles in life: daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, helper, dear friend—all of which she embraced with love.

She grew up in a small farming village and came with her family to the U.S. in 1947. They settled in East Liverpool, the town she would call home for many years. Ida picked up the English language quickly. Before she married she worked for an envelope manufacturer, as a clerk in a department store, and as a produce grocer—improving her circumstances and skills with each new job while also learning more about her new home. She married her dear husband, Frank Arcuri, in 1956. Together they would love and raise four children. After her children were grown Ida called upon her excellent sewing skills as a seamstress at the former Nancy Ann’s dress shop. But Ida’s life centered around her family and her devotion to God. She was an active member of the former St. Ann’s Parish, serving in many rolls including the Ladies Guild and, most special to her, the parish soup kitchen. When she and Frank moved to Columbiana, they became active members of St. Jude’s Parish. Ida supported Frank’s endeavors with the Knights of Columbus and they recognized her charitable works which continued after his death with their Isabella Award.

Ida was the friend who called to see how you were doing after surgery, the mom who made sure the neighborhood kids waited for the school bus inside her house rather than at the bus stop on rainy or cold days. She was also a fabulous cook and known by her extended family, and especially her children, for providing delicious feasts at holidays and special events. Most of all, she was a loving embrace, someone who cared.

Preceded in death by her parents, Francesco and Angela Catignani, her husband, Frank, and her sister, Mary Laurenzi, Ida will be lovingly remembered by her children, Valerie (Bill) Bonacci of Scranton, PA, Tony (Cindy) Arcuri of North Canton, Paula (Steve) Zorc of Cleveland, and Gregory (Amy) Arcuri of Salem, by her brothers, Mariano Catignani of Akron, and Bert (Betty) Catignani of Warren, and by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ida’s children thank the staff at Crandall Medical Center for the care and kindness they gave her and her family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Crandall Medical Center at Copeland Oaks, 800 South 15th St., Sebring, OH 44672, to St. Jude Church, St. Carlo Acutis Parish, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, OH 44408 or to the food bank of your choice.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Mass will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Saint Carlo Acutis Parish, Saint Jude Church, Columbiana, with Father Christopher Cicero officiating.

Burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
