Howard Lee Hoover

Columbiana - Howard Lee Hoover, 82, of 21 Beechwood Drive, died Thursday morning, January 7, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Hoover was born March 31, 1927 in Columbiana, a son of the late Howard M. and Edith Atwell Hoover and had lived in this area all of his life. He had been employed as a meat cutter over 42 years working for A & P and later Giant Eagle. In later years, he assisted his son at Stow Jewelers in Stow for 17 years.

He had attended the First United Methodist Church and had also served as Mayor of Columbiana and also served on village council several years ago.

His wife, the former Marie L. Dean, whom he married August 19, 1951 died July 17, 2004.

He is survived by a daughter, Cindy (Gary) Birmingham of Industry, PA; two sons, Robert (Debbie) Hoover of Kent and Tim Hoover of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren, James and Gary Birmingham and Matt & Lauren Hoover; and three great grandchildren, Ella, Gary, and Glenn Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Paula Archdeacon officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
