Columbiana - Herman Gorby, 82, of 44646 Columbiana Waterford Road, died at 5:08 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth's Boardman Health Center.

Herman was born June 21, 1929 in Rogers and was the son of Bartlett and Lillian G. Wilson Gorby and resided in Columbiana all his life.

Mr. Gorby served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He had been employed as an upholsterer at Kenmar and Ethan Allen in East Palestine for 28 years. He was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Hutson-Bell Gorby, whom he married February 7, 1952; a daughter, Marla (Steve) Howell and a granddaughter, Stevie Howell, all of Waycross, GA; two sisters, Hazel Ewing of Salem and Florence Barnhouse of Bethesda; three brothers, Lawrence Gorby of New Waterford, Clifford Gorby of Columbiana and Floyd Gorby of Negley.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Minamyer, Myrtle Gorby, and Dorothy Hostetter; and six brothers, Roy, Glenn, Harold, Edwin, Wilbur and Roland Gorby.

No calling hours or services will be held.

Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
