Herbert W. Lewis

East Palestine - August 29, 2004 - Herbert W. Lewis, age 84, of 285 Park Avenue, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday at the East Liverpool City Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Lewis was born June 13, 1920 in Chillicothe, Ohio, a son of Ishmal and Ruby Sawyer Lewis and had lived her since 1971, coming from Troy, New York. He served in the US Army during WW II.

He had been employed as a truck driver for various trucking companies for several years.

His wife, the former Mattie Wright died April 20, 1989.

He is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Davis of Petersburg, Carol Ann Lewis, Mary Lou Lewis, and Linda Lewis, all of Michigan; a son, Herbert Lewis, Jr. of Olivet, MI; a sister, Mrs. Helen Norris of Newark, OH; a brother, Carl Lewis of Troy, NY; and several grandchildren.

A brother, John Lewis is also deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with the Reverend Agnes Marie Joachim officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
