Alliance - Herbert Francis Faulk went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2010 at Community Care of Alliance. Herb was born on January 12, 1922 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania to William and Flora Elmira May Faulk who both preceded him in death. He had four brothers, Clem, Walter, Charles and Paul and three sisters, Mary Ruth, Justina and Margaret all of whom also preceded him in death.

He was married to his beloved wife Donna (Baum) Faulk in 1964. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2003. Herb is survived by his daughter Sandy (Larry) Kamoda of Austintown, and Matthew his grandson. He is also survived by his Sisters-in law Shirley (Lynn) Battershell, Betty (Ed) Wonner, Carol Marini and Maridel Thompson and his Brothers-in-law Neal, Roger, Larry and Royle Baum who provided care for him in his final years in Alliance. He had many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply.

He distinguished himself serving in the U.S. Army during World War II in both the D-Day invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He received numerous citations for bravery and service to his country. He was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge, American Campaign Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. Upon returning from the war, Herb settled in Enon Valley, Pennsylvania where he worked in a variety of jobs and retired from the Ethan Allen Furniture Company. He was an active member of the East Palestine Church of the Nazarene, serving in numerous ministries there. An active outdoorsman and avid gardener and wood worker, Herb brought much joy to his family and friends with his homemade creations and homegrown food.

He and Donna moved to Alliance in 2000 after she fell ill. He became an active member of the Alliance Church of the Nazarene and resided for a time at the Alliance Towers. Herb was known to many for his quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and generosity and kindness for everyone he met, and his love for the Lord.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, OH with Pastor Glen Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Little Beaver Cemetery, Enon Valley, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance First Church of the Nazarene. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brother In Law Larry Baum and niece Diane Todd for the extra special care they gave to Herb.
