Columbiana- -Herb Bortner, 63, of 114 Court Street, died Friday, August 12, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Bortner was born August 6, 1948 in Salem, a son of Herbert W. and Helen Jean Pursifull Bortner and had lived in this area most of his life.
Herb played football for Columbiana High School and was on the team that won the Tri County championship in 1966.
He was a 1970 graduate of Grove City College where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Phi. He taught high school biology in the Cleveland area.
Upon returning to Columbiana, he was the manager of Main Street Motors in Columbiana for over 30 years, and then worked as a real estate agent for Gallagher Realty.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana and the Sons of the American Legion.
Besides his mother, Helen Jean Bortner of Columbiana, he is survived by his wife, the former Marcia L. Keslar, whom he married October 17, 1975; and a brother, Thomas O. (Cindy) Bortner of Columbiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Paula Archdeacon officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
