Henry L. Zimmer

Henry L. Zimmer, 90, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday evening, March 17, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Youngstown surrounded by his family.

Mr. Zimmer was born November 16, 1925 in Columbiana, the son of the late Raymond and Lillian Bish Zimmer and had lived in this area all of his life.

Henry served in the US Navy during World War II. He had worked for the FC Russell Company in Columbiana and the Plexco Pipe Company in North Lima retiring in 1988.

Henry enjoyed spending time with his family especially being an active part of his grandchildren’s lives.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ella M. Veon, whom he married June 30, 1951; his two daughters, Margie Gaskill of New Waterford and Kathy (Tom) Snyder of Columbiana; a sister, Betty Donnelly of Leetonia; four grandchildren, Rae Ann, Todd, Clint and Jen; and six great grandchildren, Andy, Anna, Wesley, Addison, Grant and Blake.

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Veon, Lucille Knight and Ruth Blouir and two brothers, Richard Zimmer and Robert Zimmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4-6 pm Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
