Leetonia - August 30, 2006 - Henry T. Trenkelbach, 87, of Leetonia, died Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Trenkelbach was born July 27, 1919 in Moers On The Rhine, Germany, a son of Theodore and Sibilla Planken Trenkelbach, coming to the United States in 1927. He was a 1937 graduate of Liverpool High School, Liverpool, NY and attended Washington State University.
During WW II, he served in the US Army Air Force from 1942 until 1945. Following discharge from the military, he began work at Electric Furnace in Salem as a Fuel Draftsman, retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia.
His wife, the former Mary J. Shafer Trenkelbach, whom he married July 9, 1944 died July 25, 2006.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Hackenson of Lisbon and Susan (Gerry) Less of Leetonia; three sons, James (Gale) Trenkelbach of Jacksonville, FL, Henry (April) Trenkelbach, Jr. of Leetonia, and John (Roxie) Trenkelbach of Calcutta; a son in law, Gene Leffler of Indianapolis; a brother-in-law, James Shafer of Morgantown, WV; a sister-in-law, Betsy Shafer of Salem; 12 grandchildren, Harry Leffler and Jeffrey Leffler, both of Indianapolis, IN, Rob (Nancy) Horning of Columbus, Sara (Britt) Leffler of Peninsula, Ted (Larie) Trenkelbach of New Jersey and Jerry (Kate) Trenkelbach, both of Washington, DC, Maggie Less of Leetonia, Jacob Less with the US Navy, Lynne Trenkelbach of Kent, Jennifer Trenkelbach with the US Army, Eric Trenkelbach of Leetonia, and Sherrin Trenkelbach of Long Island, NY; and four great grandchildren, Claire Leffler, Emma Wright, Henry Leffler-Beutel, and Tasia Less.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Leffler, a son in law, Lee Hackenson and a daughter in law, Janice Leffler.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services at the church on Sunday. Memorials may be made to either the Columbiana Meals on Wheels or the Leetonia Fire Department. Arrangements are being made by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
