Leetonia, OH - June 29, 2008 - Henry S. Nemenz, Sr., 93, of 3406 Leetonia Road, died at 12:46 p.m. Sunday at the Hospice House in Poland.
Mr. Nemenz was born November 11, 1914 in Pittsburgh, PA a son of Andrew and Rose Kloos Nemenz and had lived in this area since 1945.
Henry was the owner and operated the Nemenz Market, the former Leetonia Golden Dawn grocery store for 20 years retiring in 1967. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leetonia and the Leetonia Lodge #401 F.& A.M. He was also a member of the Salem Saxon Club #19 and the Salem Saxon Retirees.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Leah A. Verlato, whom he married January 28, 1939; his son and daughter-in-law, Henry S. and Pam Nemenz, Jr. of Canfield; three sisters, Rose Olson of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathryn Steck of Jackson, MI and Elizabeth Horvath of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren, Andrea Nemenz Chatterji of Australia, Stefan Nemenz of Charlotte, NC and Amanda Nemenz of Oxford, OH; and a great granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Chatterji.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Albert Nemenz.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the church where a Masonic Service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
