Helen M. (Vlahogenis) Kata

Boardman – Helen M. Kata, age 97, a lifetime Boardman resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Hospice House in Poland.

She was born on June 2, 1927, in Warren, a daughter of the late George and Lillian Kefalos Vlahogenis.

Helen had worked as a hairdresser for many years and had attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Boardman.  She enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas with her late husband Frank and loved decorating the house at Christmas time.  Helen was very artistic.  She enjoyed sketching, gardening and in recent years, coloring adult coloring books.

Helen is survived by and will be missed by her daughter, Pamela (Henry "Hank" Jr.) Nemenz of Canfield; two grandchildren, Stefan (Melissa) Nemenz of Charlotte, NC, and Amanda (Jordan) Stair of Columbia, SC, and by her three great grandchildren, Talia, Keren and Jonan Nemenz.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Kata; a brother, James Genis, and two sisters, Zoe Abler, and Toula Pompili.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
