Leetonia - February 2, 2005 - Helen Haus Goerig, age 84, formerly of Long's Crossing Road passed away quietly at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parkside Health Center.
She was born September 29, 1920 in Canfield, Ohio, daughter of Jacob and Katherine Welsch Haus and had lived in the area most of her life.
She had worked as a meat packer at the former A&P Meat Packing Plant in Salem for 18 years, retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Goerig was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Goerig of Beaufort, SC and Mrs. Ron (Karen) Everhart of San Juan Capistrano, CA; three sons, Francis Goerig III of Gig Harbor, WA, Raymond Goerig of Inuyama, Japan and David Goerig of Leetonia; two sisters, Mrs. Veronica Patterson of Monroe, MI, Mrs. Martha Dorman of Dover, OH; and twelve grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne and Jayme Goerig; three sisters, Rosena Calvin, Marian Lenhart and Theresa Rask; and three brothers, Joseph, Mathias and Paul Haus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with the Reverend Edward Brienz officiating. Burial will follow in the Paradise Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
