Salem – Helen Marie Edling, age 85, of Salem, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Salem Regional Medical Center, Salem.

She was born on September 26, 1931 in Unity Twp., a daughter of the late Alfred “Boyd” and Claudia Snyder Cunningham.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana and had worked as a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and watching game shows. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and wintering in Florida.

Her husband, Arthur William Edling, whom she married on July 3, 1950, preceded her in death on May 15, 1999.

Helen is survived by six daughters, Judy (Ed) Green of Ottawa Hills, OH., Deborah (Robert) Letter of Margate, FL., Jeanette (John) Kartley of Solon, OH., Lorrie (Dwight) Graham of Columbiana, Marjorie (Mark) Mellinger of Leetonia and Joanne (Bob) Cotton of St. Albans, England. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Esther Sponseller; four brothers, Sidney, Warden, Richard and Alfred Cunningham, and by a great grandson, Payton Freeman.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating.

Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery.
