Columbiana- Helen L. Culp, age 89, of Columbiana, died on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem.

She was born on October 11, 1928 in Elton, Louisiana, a daughter of the late Marion and Clara Arabie Nugent.

Helen was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana and the Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion Auxiliary. She had been very active in her church, teaching vacation bible school and belonging to the Priscilla Circle. Helen enjoyed taking drives in the country admiring the fall foliage and spending time at her sons house sitting on the deck watching the birds, squirrels and her grand puppies. She also enjoyed cookouts and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.

Her husband, Raymond Culp Jr., whom she married on June 1, 1945, preceded her in death on September 3, 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Culp of New Middletown, and Mark (Sharon) Culp of Salem; two grandsons, Adam Culp and Andy Culp, and a granddaughter, Amanda Culp. Also surviving are many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Mahler and Verna Tarver, and by two brothers, Roland Nugent, and Frank Nugent.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with John Reed, Minister, officiating.

Burial will be at Zion Hill Cemetery, Columbiana.
