Columbiana-Harry Allen Lundgren, 83, of 110 West Park Ave. died on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 7:07 p.m. at Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Lundgren was born April 18, 1927 in Salem, a son of the late Harry W. and Marie Allen Lundgren.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and served on the USS Hornet. Harry earned his bachelors degree at Mt. Union University and his masters degree from Kent State. He taught at Boardman High School many years, retiring in 1980. Prior to that, he had taught in Honduras, England, and Columbus, OH.
Mr. Lundgren had been a member of the U&I Class of the First Christian Church, Waynesville Lodge F.& A.M., and the former Columbiana Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star where he had served as Worthy Patron. He had also been a member of the Columbiana Historical Society and the Columbiana County Historical Society where he had served as president. He was also a past president of the Central Ohio History Teacher's Association. He was an avid world traveler and loved photography.
He is survived by ten nieces and nephews, Sandy Hill, Sharon Triebel, Linda (Richard) Weiland, Richard McBane, Robert (Wendy) McBane, Mark (Wendy) McBane, Bonnie (Charlie) Sears, Don (Kathy) Reash, Art (Kathy) Shoemake, and Tom (Laura) Shoemake; 14 great nieces and nephews and 13 great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, June McBane and Lillian Reash Shoemake.
Private services will be held Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Columbiana Cemetery Chapel with Mr. Clarence Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbiana Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
