Rogers - Harry T. Hawkins, 91, of 5838 Peace Valley Road, died at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the home where he was born and lived all of his life.

Mr. Hawkins was born April 27, 1920, a son of Fred M. and Hazel L. Barton Hawkins. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific. He was first employed by the former Youngstown & Southern Railroad and then was employed as a machinist at the NRM Plant in Columbiana. He later worked at Youngstown Oxygen for several years.

He was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church where he taught the Friendship Sunday School Class for many years. He had also been instrumental in starting the taped ministry, served as a trustee, and on the building committee. He had chaired the Evangelism Committee for many years and served as head usher.

He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth M. Flowers, whom he married July 3, 1952; a daughter, Darla (Frank) Engle of Salem; a son, Chuck (Cindi) Hawkins of Parma; eight grandchildren, Justin Engle, Jami Toot, Ben Hawkins, Kerry Hawkins, Kayla Hart, Tracy Spooner, Mandy Neiheisel, and Andrew Neiheisel; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn K. Neiheisel and a brother, Robert Hawkins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church with the Reverend Michael Namy and the Reverend Charles Ready officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Valley Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana and at the church one hour prior to the services on Tuesday. Memorial tributes may take the form of a donation to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
