Columbiana - Harold James "Jim" Weiss, age 78, of Columbiana, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at his home.
He was born on April 20, 1947, in Punxsutawney, PA, a son of Nellie Fonner Weiss and the late Harold Jack Weiss.
Jim was a 1965 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and had attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He served his country in the Army Reserve and carved out a career working as an assembler for General Motors, Lordstown for 35 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the UAW Local 1112 and the Kittanning PA Firemen’s Band. Jim enjoyed the simple things in life, like vacationing in the OBX with his family and enjoying a fine meal at his favorite restaurant, Hartville Kitchen in Hartville, OH. Mostly, Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Lasher Weiss, whom he married on May 17, 1969; his mother, Nellie Weiss of Punxsutawney, PA; children, Andrew (Emmy) Weiss of Mason, OH, Keri (Chad) Hupp of Poland, OH, and Michael Weiss of Columbiana, OH; two sisters, Sara Weiss and Peggy (Daniel) Engle, both of Punxsutawney, PA. Also surviving are his four beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Jack, Katelyn and Nathan.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Harold Weiss and a brother, Arnold Weiss.
No services will be held at this time. A private luncheon will be held in Jim’s honor at the Hartville Kitchen at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sarac, Dr. Negrete, Stephanie and entire staff at The Renal Group in Poland for their kind and compassionate care.
Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
