Columbiana June 11, 2005 -Harold Edmond Holloway, age 79, of 639 West Southern Avenue died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday at his residence.
He was born October 4, 1925 in Fairfield Township, son of Lawrence D. and Helen Hanna Holloway and had lived in the area all of his life.
He graduated from the Fairfield High School.
Mr. Holloway had owned and operated Ruth Excavating then was Road Superintendent for Fairfield Township, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church; the Allen Masonic Lodge #276 F&AM, the Youngstown Shrine Club, the Al Koran Temple, was a member Benjamin Firestone Post # 290, American Legion and the York Drexler Post #5532, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been a Van Driver for the Shriners, transporting crippled children to Erie and Cincinnati.
Mr. Holloway served in the Navy during WW II, serving on the submarine, the U.S.S. Flyingfish (SS-229).
He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Firestone whom he married January 20, 1946; three daughters, Marcia Beckner and Mrs. Robert (Beverly) Washabaugh, both of Columbiana and Mrs. James (Kathryn) Vannoy of Bardstown, KY, a sister, Mrs. Gerald (Marion) Hodges of Burlington, IA; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A sister, Lois Shasteen, preceded him in death.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Kari Lankford, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leetonia officiating. Burial will follow in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 Tuesday at the funeral home.
The Allen Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Honor Guard of the Benjamin Firestone Post will render Military Honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Roof Fund, the Organ Fund, or the Shriner's Hospitals.
