Columbiana - Grace Lucille Turek, 99, passed away at home Sunday, June 21, 2015.
She was born in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Grace Ann McHale and John F. Klein.
Her family moved to Youngstown when she was a girl and she graduated from South High School in Youngstown.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Isabelle Thompson; and a brother, John F. "Jay" Klein.
Mrs. Turek married Charles B. Austin in 1940 and the couple had four children. Mr. Austin died in 1954. In 1967, she married Ralph E. Turek, who died in 1997.
She is survived by her children, Charles "Paul" Austin, Denver, Colo., Thomas Austin, Bratenahl, Ohio, Susan Rowan, Columbiana and Janice Zavadil, Columbiana.
Mrs. Turek is also survived by five grandchildren, Emily Rose, Lyndhurst, Aaron Zavadil, Boardman, Mary Rowan, Youngstown, Micah Zavadil, Canfield, and Brian Rowan, Columbus; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Turek worked as a cook in the Columbiana schools cafeterias for 25 years. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church since the founding of the parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana with Father Thomas Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Jude Catholic Church or Hospice of the Valley.
