Grace H. Schaeffer

East Palestine - Grace H. Schaeffer, 94, formerly of West Martin Street, died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, April 08, 2011 at the Salem Community Hospital.

Mrs. Schaeffer was born January 3, 1917 in East Palestine, a daughter of the late Ira and Edith Tennis Rambo and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Carl C. Schaeffer, whom she married June 12, 1940 died April 20, 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Jayne (Kersey) McCloskey and Betty (Scott) McIlduff, both of East Palestine; a son, Ronald (Carolyn) Schaeffer of South Lyon, MI; eight grandchildren, Lee Ann (Bennett) Hug, Brooke (Hunter) Harrison, Lynsey (David) Tappe, Regan (Greg) McCormick, Heather (Jerod) Berger, Zachery Schaeffer, Tyler Schaeffer, and Nicholas Schaeffer; and four great grandchildren, Daisy Tappe, Lucy Tappe, Colin McCormick, and Dustin Cuttruzzla.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie French and Mary Mills, five brothers, Hugh, Wilbur, Lloyd, Everett, and Howard Rambo; and a grandson, David McCloskey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with Pastor Mark McTrustry officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
