Leetonia - Goodman James Maynard, 75, of Pearl Street, died Saturday morning, Oct. 10, 2009 at his residence of cancer.
Mr. Maynard was born March 14, 1934 in Omar, WV, a son of the late Goodman and Georgia Meadows Maynard and had lived here since 1959, coming from West Virginia. He had been employed as a hand finisher at the NRM Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Eileen Lucas; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Lanzendorfer of Leetonia; three sons, Gary Maynard and James Maynard, both of Leetonia and Gregory Maynard of Missouri; a daughter Darlene preceded him in death at age 2 A½ on June 28, 1966 of Myotonic Dystrophy; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Bruce (Sherry) Trayes of Leetonia, Mrs. Daniel (Stephanie) Bell of Salem, Michael Maynard, who is stationed in Texas at the Sheppard Air Force Base, Samantha Maynard of Leetonia, Tiffany Harris of Akron, Justin Maynard of Leetonia, and Jason and Karla Maynard of Missouri; and 11 great grandchildren, Walker and Colin Trayes of Leetonia, Hayden, Christopher, Emily, Maggie, and Elijah Bell of Salem, Grace and Ella Harris of Akron, and Louis and Savannah Maynard of Missouri.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at the Lisbon Baptist Temple, 6428 Lisbon Rd, Lisbon. Friends may call following the services at the church. Contributions may be made in his name to the Teen Group Fund of the church and any flowers may be sent to the church for the memorial service.
