East Palestine - February 14, 2008 - Glenn A. Spaite, 86, of 700 West Martin Street, died at 12:04 P.M. on Thursday at the Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Spaite was born November 24, 1921 in East Palestine, a son of Bryan H. and Mabel Estella Sheets Spaite and had lived in this area all of his life. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in Europe at several areas including Normandy and Rhineland.
Mr. Spaite was a general contractor with his father, Bryan H. Spaite & Son for 40 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the East Palestine Country Club, a life member of the Edward L. McGuckin Post #4579 VFW, and East Palestine Lodge #417 F.& A.M.
He was preceded in death on May 3, 2001 by his wife, Ina Tindall Fosnaught, whom he married February 22, 1963 and also by a brother, Carl W. Spaite.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Park (Arlene L.) Grim of East Palestine and several nieces and nephews.
A stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul (Rae Ann) Davis of East Palestine and two step granddaughters also survive. Private interment will take place in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine. There are no calling hours or services. Funeral arrangements were made by the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the East Palestine EMS.
