Leetonia - Glenn M. Rohrer, 87, of 54 Oak Street died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Glenn was born May 11, 1925 in Washingtonville, a son of the late James and Pearl Lair Rohrer and had lived in the area all of his life. He served in the US Army in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe during WWII. He had been employed as a tool maker at Harold Tool, Columbiana, retiring in 1988. He repaired small engines at his home for many years and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rita C. Perry, whom he married August 27, 1949; two daughters, Glenna Holisky of Struthers, and Lori (Jim) McLaughlin of Leetonia; two sons, Kevin (Kelly) Rohrer of Manahawkin, NJ and Thomas Rohrer of Columbiana; 8 grandchildren, Gregory, Gianna, George III, Chandra, Megan, Heather, Matthew, and Madison; 8 great grandchildren, Logan, Anthony, Dominic, Adalee, Lexi, Nickolas, Delaney, and Cameron; and 1 great great grandchild, Chase.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Rohrer; three sisters, Doris Altomare, Elizabeth Dattilio, and Malva Rohrer; and four brothers, Alfred, Archie, Chester, and James Rohrer.
A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia. Memorial contributions may be made to the MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, OH 44505.
