Lisbon-November 13, 2008-Glenn J. Earl, Sr., 81, of 37626 Eagleton Road, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday at his home.
Mr. Earl was born August 27, 1927 in Salineville a son of Lewis and Rachel Davis Earl and had lived in this area all of his life.
Glenn was employed as machine operator for Electric Furnace in Salem for 14 years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that he had worked for various body shops. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was member of the Salineville Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, the former, Carol L. Kelm, whom he married May 14, 1959; a daughter, Deanne C. (Paul) Bradley of Lisbon; two sons, Glenn J. "Bud" (Debbie) Earl, Jr. of Concord, NC and Harry (Diana) Earl of Leetonia; a daughter in law, Diana Marie Earl of Guilford Lake; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Kristin, Bethany, Lisa, Robin, Renee, Chris, Carla, John and Jacklyn; as well as, seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Earl; a sister, Orvetta Earl and three brothers, Joseph, Willard and Gillis Earl.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Salem VFW and Salem Amvets Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial tributes may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the St. Paul's Lutheran Church organ fund.
