Negley, OH-February 7, 2010-Glenn E. Bowers, 79, of 50921 Richardson Ave., died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at his home.

Mr. Bowers was born September 24, 1930 in Canton, a son of Charles and Ruth N. Granger Bowers and had lived in this area all of his life.

He had been a foreman for the Insul Company in East Palestine for 35 years retiring in 1993. Glenn served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He loved woodworking and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, the former Betty J. Swogger, whom he married May 21, 1954; three daughters, Connie Bowers and Tina Bowers both of Negley and Peggy Bowers of East Palestine; two sons, Gregory (Shirley) Bowers and Glenn S. (Kim) Bowers both of Leetonia; two sisters, Martha (Robert) Schon of Chester, WV and Judy (Jim) Kennedy of Sebring, FL; a brother, James (Mary Catherine) Bowers of Rogers; three grandchildren and one step grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Etta Alessio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine with David E. Phelps, Sr., Minister officiating. Burial will be in East Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
