Gladys Aileen Bailey Wilhelm, who lived to the remarkable age of 103 passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, at Copeland Oaks Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, where she has been a resident at Copeland Oaks for the past 22 years. Gladys was born on August 12th, 1921, in Alliance, Gladys was the third daughter of the late S.D. and Mildred Bailey.
On July 6th, 1941, Gladys married Howard Charles Wilhelm at St. Jacobs United Church of Christ in Leetonia, Ohio. They shared over 70 wonderful years together until Howards passing in 2012.
Gladys dedicated her life to hard work and community, retiring three times from Warren Molded Plastics in Salem. Her commitment to her faith was unwavering, as she was a lifelong member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ. Gladys enjoyed traveling in her earlier years of retirement, whether in their Bumblebee RV or exploring the world with Gadabout Tours. She was very active in Eastern Stars and Mount Nebo Grange #664.
Gladys is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Judy Wilhelm of Salem; her daughter Dianne Wilhelm Strunkenburg of Plain City; her grandson Todd and his wife Mindy Wilhelm of Salem; her granddaughter Kristen Strunkenburg Mullikin and her husband Keith Mullikin of Plain City; and her three great-grandchildren, Chloe and Chase Wilhelm, and Hayden Mullikin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law W. Ed Strunkenburg and her grandson Kevin Wilhelm.
Gladys leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, Leetonia.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 am at the St. Jacob's United Church of Christ, Leetonia, with Reverend Stephen W. Broache officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Jacob's UCC Cemetery, Leetonia.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jacob's Memorial Fund, 5219 Saint Jacobs Logtown Rd, Leetonia, OH 44431.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
