Glada Mary Derhodes

East Palestine – Glada Mary DeRhodes, 89, died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 27, 1925 in Negley, a daughter of the late Charles and Maude French Murphy and had lived in the area all her life.

She had worked for Strouss in the Southern Park Mall, Boardman retiring in 1981. Prior to that she was employed as a cafeteria worker for East Palestine Schools and also as a typist for the former McCune & Co. in New Waterford. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Palestine.

Her husband, Albert “Wayne” DeRhodes, whom she married February 12, 1944 died on August 6, 1973.

She is survived by three sons, James W. (Sandra L.) DeRhodes of East Palestine, Michael J. (Dorothy) DeRhodes of Fort Myers, FL and William E. (Sherry) DeRhodes of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

A brother, Robert C. Murphy also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, East Palestine with Father Christopher Cicero officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Palestine. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Parkside Health Care Center for the wonderful care that Glada received.
