Salem-Geraldine A. “Geri” Morris, 86, passed away Sunday evening, January 15, 2017 at Salem of Essex II following a long illness.
Mrs. Morris was born September 19, 1930 in Boardman, a daughter of the late Clarence and Alice Buzzard Neidig and had lived in this area most of her life.
Geri was a member of Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion Auxiliary and had worked as a secretary in the insurance industry, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed bowling and sewing. She also enjoyed trying new recipes any time she was baking or cooking. Mostly, Geri loved dancing. This was how she met her husband George, and the two became lifelong dance partners.
She is survived by her husband, George H. Morris, whom she married November 23, 1951; her daughter, Jo Ann (Ron) Maynard of Bowling Green; her son, Jay Morris of Columbiana; two granddaughters, Amy (Earle) Mitchell of Fremont, OH and Elizabeth Morris of East Palestine. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Ian and Zane Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two sons, Terry and Gary Morris.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 1-2pm at the Salem Bible Church, 807 Cunningham Rd. Salem, OH 44460.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Douglas Demar officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
