George F. Zank

East Palestine - Nov. 29, 2006 - George F. Zank, age 90, of 505 SR 165, died Wednesday at 7:10 pm at Beeghly Oaks, Boardman.

Mr. Zank was born June 16, 1916 in New Castle, PA, a son of George and Regina Suntag Zank and had lived in the Youngstown area most of his life.

He was a Protestant by faith and served in the US Army Air Force during WW II. He had been employed as a draftsman for the Mahoning County Sanitary Engineers Office for 31 years, retiring in 1981. Prior to that, he had been a draftsman for the Astatic Corporation in Conneaut, OH.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Jane Jackamo, whom he married Nov. 20, 1941; a sister, Hannah MacDonald of Detroit, MI; and four generations of nieces and nephews, including his niece, Lynne Gilchrist, with whom he made his home.

A sister, Jennie Williams and a brother, Henry Zank are deceased.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Ron Wamer of the New Springfield Church of God officiating. Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown. There are no calling hours.
