George Ralich

Salem – George Ralich, 90, President of R&R Truck Sales, Akron, OH, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Ralich was born June 2, 1924 in Aliquippa, PA, a son of Mane and Sophia Dmitrovich Ralich. He was a graduate of Aliquippa, PA High School. After serving in the US Army in the European Theater of Operations during WWII, he enrolled in Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, IN. After receiving his BSME and also an honorary Doctorate Degree from IIT, he worked for G.M.C. Truck and Coach in Pontiac, MI in several capacities.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown, the National Automobile & Truck Dealers’ Assn., a member of the American Serbian Eastern Rite Brothers; Allen Lodge #276 F. & A.M. of Columbiana; and also Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown.

George is survived by his wife, Hilda Grote Ralich whom he married June 15, 1957; two sons, Daniel Ralich of North Canton and Steven Ralich of Walton Hills; a daughter, Julie Ralich of Salem; two grandsons, Nicholas and Alex Ralich of North Canton; and a sister, Joanne (Nick) Spanovich of Escondido, CA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Puskarich and Mary Thomas; and two brothers, Daniel Ralich and Nick Ralich.

Calling hours will be held at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana on Friday from 2-9 p.m. where a Pomen Service will be held at 7 p.m.

A visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 39 Laird Ave. Youngstown, OH from 9:30-10 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will be held at Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the honor guard from Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion, Columbiana.
