Salem-March 12, 2012-George M. Keagy, 96, of Salem, died at 7:11 pm Monday at Northside Medical Center, Youngstown of natural causes.

Mr. Keagy was born January 23, 1916 in Saxton, PA, a son of Mahlan and Mary Haup Keagy and had lived in this area most of his life.

George was a salesman for Witmer's Inc. in Columbiana for 35 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. George served in the US Army during World War II and was a member of Benjamin Firestone Post #290 American Legion. He loved hunting and fishing and was a life member of the Beaver Creek Sportsman's Club.

George is survived by his wife, the former Betty Ketterer, whom he married September 24, 1940; his daughter, Carol Sevenich of Poland; his two sons, Lynn (Barbara) Keagy of Columbiana and William (Brenda) Keagy, Sr. of Negley; two sisters, Ida Chaplow of Fort Myers, FL and Nora Eaton of East Palestine; two brothers, John (Helen) Dilling of New Waterford and Henry (Rita) Dilling of Fort Myers; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Forney and a brother, Jess Dilling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Salem where the Salem Honor Guard will accord military honors.

Friends may call from 5-8pm Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
