George E. Berdine

Cuyahoga Falls-George E. Berdine, 74, died at 10:30 am Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Maison Aine Nursing Home in Stow.

Mr. Berdine was born October 17, 1938 in New Freeport, PA, a son of Hiram and Anna Drummond Berdine. George was a foreman for Columbiana Pump retiring in 2005. He had also been a sports editor for the Morning Journal and Salem News. He was a member of Boardman Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Betty; his stepfather, Harold Moninger, Sr. of New Freeport, PA; a daughter, Linda (Keith) Barkley of Leetonia and a step-daughter, Donna (Kurt) McBurney of North Lima; three sons, Doug (Chris) Berdine of Columbiana, Richard (Sherri) Berdine of Cuyahoga Falls and Troy (Kim) Berdine of Hanoverton; a step-son Dale Rosensteel; a sister, Dora Lee (Gary) Huffman of Lima; a half sister, Pam; a brother, Kay Berdine of New Freeport, PA, a step-brother, Harold "Smitty" Moninger; a half-brother Martin Moninger; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole Hiscox Berdine, January 11, 1990; a step-son, Scott Rosensteel and a sister, Bobbi Ross.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with Pastor Dennis Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
