Gene R. Baker

Canfield - Gene R. Baker, age 74, of Canfield, passed away at home with his family on Monday, December 4, 2023.

He was born on June 1, 1949, in Salem, OH, son of the late Earl and Zella Gordon Baker.

Gene had worked as a meat manager for 27 years. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church, Salem, where he served on the board and was highly involved. Gene was a member of Green Township Zoning Board and the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed being on his farm, draft horses, woodworking and traveling to Amish country with his wife. Gene was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who loved his wife’s cooking and spending time with his family.

Gene is survived by his wife, Vickie Yeagley Baker, whom he married on August 19, 1972;  son, Jason (Susie) Baker of North Lima; daughter, Gena (Steve) Grope of North Jackson and five grandchildren, MacKenzie, Cole, Paige, Levi and Andie.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Aultman Alliance Hospital and Hospice staff for their care and compassion. They would like to personally thank Dr. Uppal, Dr Buch and their staff, and Nurse Practitioner Michelle Cline. They would also like to thank Pastor Joyce Reynolds for her friendship and support.

Gene would like to remind everyone to “be bad and have fun.”
