Gayle L. Snyder

Canton-January 18, 2009, Gayle L. Snyder, 72, formerly of Columbiana and Salem, died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Nursing Home in Canton.

Mrs. Snyder was born January 9, 1937 in Salem, a daughter of Chester and Margaret DeWan Paxson and had lived in Canton since 2006 coming from the Columbiana County area.

Gayle was a graduate of Salem High in 1955 and the Salem Hospital School of Radiological Technology. She had worked for the Salem Community Hospital for 24 years.

Her husband William Snyder, whom she married November 18, 1984 died January 11, 2004.

She is survived by a daughter, DonnaMarie (Carl) Safreed, Jr. of Canton; a son, Mark (Cindy) Paxson of Portland, Oregon; three step daughters, Judith (Douglas) Smith and Linda (Dennis) Kimble both of Columbiana and Victoria (Paul) Leach of Salem; two step sons, William (Susan) Snyder and Jack (Nancy) Snyder both of Columbiana; a sister, Judith Eveleth of Canton; two brothers, Gary (Karen) Paxson and Neil (Ila) Paxson both of Salem; her step mother, Margaret Paxson of Damascus; her first husband Richard (Jan) Sell of Alliance; several grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren nieces and nephews. A daughter, Laurel Gordon, is deceased.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana handled the arrangements.
