Gary Thomas Barnett

Fort Myers, FL - Gary Thomas Barnett, 49, died on September 3, 2012 at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fort Myers, FL of heart failure.

He was born in Coopersville, Michigan on April 24, 1963 and was the son of Thomas and lla (Wibert) Barnett. He lived in the suburbs just north of Detroit, Michigan, Youngstown and Boardman, Ohio and spent his final years in Fort Myers, Florida.

Gary loved music, especially The Beatles, playing the guitar and wrote his own music. Besides music, he also loved cooking and worked in various restaurants in the Fort Myers, Florida area.

He is survived by two sisters, Susan (Jim) Mosley of Michigan and Dianne Hunter of Florida; a brother, Larry (Julie) Barnett of Michigan; three step-brothers, Charles (Jeannie) Gahagan of California, Thomas J. (Lynne) Gahagan of Florida, and Mike (Kathy) Gahagan of Ohio; a step-sister, Barbara Smith of Michigan; thirteen nephews, six nieces and numerous cousins. He will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, lla Mae Barnett (1999) and his step-mother, Lois Gahagan Barnett (2004).

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Ferndale Free Methodist Church, 1950 Woodward Heights, Ferndale, Michigan 48220

His final resting place is at the White Chapel Cemetery, Troy, Michigan at the same gravesite as his mother, Ila Mae Barnett.
