Garry J. Cartwright

Petersburg-Garry J. Cartwright, 79, of Petersburg, passed away at 10:55 am Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Covington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, East Palestine.

Mr. Cartwright was born December 5, 1935 in East Palestine, a son of Joseph and Mary R. Burson Cartwright and had lived in the area all of his life.

Garry worked at LTV Steel in Aliquippa, PA for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

His wife, the former Sarah Schneider, whom he married June 30, 1955, died October 2, 1993.

Garry was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed by his son, Joseph (Tammy) Cartwright of Petersburg; his son-in-law, Richard Workman of Fairhaven, MI; four grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Anderson of East Palestine, Jacob (Amanda) Workman of New Baltimore, MI, Jolene (Travis) Magee of Cape May, NJ and Zachary Cartwright of Petersburg; and four great-granddaughters, Emily, Cadence, Annika, and Karen.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie Workman and a brother, James Cartwright.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the New Waterford Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Joanne Dota officiating. Material tributes in memory of Garry may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
