Leetonia-Frida A. Onigkeit, 101, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Hospice House in Poland.

Mrs. Onigkeit was born in Germany July 6, 1914 coming to the United States when she was 10, a daughter of the late August and Augusta Winkler Gudat.

Frida was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem and she taught Sunday School for many years in Cleveland. She was confirmed and married at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Salem.

Her husband, Walter Onigkeit, whom she married May 20, 1933, died March 30, 1982.

She is survived by three daughters, Marian Onigkeit of Leetonia, Betty Steimle of Mentor and Linda (Lee) DeFlorville of Leetonia; five grandchildren, Denise, Cheryl, Kathy, Laura and Landon; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Ziegler and two brothers, Eric Gudat and Kurt Gudat.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Salem with Reverend William O. Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Washingtonville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10-11 am Saturday at the church.
