Lancaster, OH- Fred A. Ward, age 98, of Lancaster, formerly of Columbiana, died on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster.
He was born on January 2, 1920 in Columbiana, son of the late John L. and Ola DeRhodes Ward.
Fred worked as a farmer all his life and was a member of Grace Church in Columbiana since 1943. He had served in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion. Fred was a 77 year member of the Allen Lodge #276 F&AM, Columbiana and was active in the Araba Shrine, Ft. Myers. He enjoyed traveling and camping, but mostly he enjoyed his family and friends.
He is survived by a son, James (Patti) Ward of Stow; daughter, Jean Harral of Circleville; step-daughter, Kay (Ron) Pashby of Raleigh, NC; two step-sons, Owen “Buck” (Cassie) Adams of Hebron and Mike (Kathy) Adams of Mesa, AZ; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Margery Ferguson Ward; his second wife, Lillian Adams Ward; brother, John Ward; sister, Ida Engberg, and son in-law, James Harral.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church, Columbiana.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert Joy officiating.
Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery where Military honors will be accorded by the Benjamin Firestone Post #290, American Legion.
