Searsport, Maine - March 31, 2005 - Fred Gailey Hostetter, age 100, formerly of Petersburg, OH died Thursday morning at his daughter's home.
Mr. Hostetter was born July 24, 1904 in Klondyke, PA, a son of Charles M. and Goldie Gailey Hostetter and had lived in the East Palestine area until June of 2004.
He owned and operated a dairy farm and was a member of the First Church of Christ in East Palestine, OH.
His first wife, the former Ruth Finch, whom he married June 24, 1931 died March 21, 1973. His second wife, the former Thelma Sutherin Reesh, whom he married January 3, 1975 died in November 2001.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lila) Sheefel of Searsport, ME and Mrs. Roderick (Autumn) Huron of Cincinnati, OH; two step-daughters, Carol Bollinger of East Palestine and Beverly Morris of Orlando, FL; two sons, Richard L. (Nancy) Hostetter of Burlington, NC and Charles B. Hostetter of East Palestine; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Roy Reesh; two sisters, Helen Tice and Faye Hostetter; and three brothers, Donald, Wayne and Glenn Hostetter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 7-9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Mission Fund of the First Church of Christ.
