East Palestine, OH-June 21, 2004-Frank L. Smotrilla, age 85, formerly of Washington Street, East Palestine, died at 11:22 a.m. Monday at Salem Community Hospital of kidney failure.

Mr. Smotrilla was born May 31, 1919 in Youngstown, OH a son of Michael and Katherine Sanders Smotrilla and had lived in the area all of his life.

He was self- employed as a milk hauler for 35 years for Petersburg Creamery and the Brookfield Dairy retiring in 1984. He was a member of Nativity of Christ Orthodox Church, Youngstown. He served in the US Army during World War II.

His wife, the former Ann Blosco, whom he married May 22, 1944, died July 10, 1990.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Smotrilla of East Palestine; his son, Michael (Kay) Smotrilla of East Palestine; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Emma Dupay, Mary Huda, Irene Franko and Chris Janik and one brother, William Smotrilla.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, East Palestine with Father Feodor Kovalchuk officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
