Columbiana - Frank A. Arcuri, 75, of Timberline Dr. in Columbiana, in the company of his family, passed away early Jan. 23rd at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus.
Frank was born January 16, 1934 in East Liverpool, the son of the late Antonio and Frances Moraca Arcuri.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ida Catignani, and their children Valerie (Bill) Bonacci of Scranton, PA; Tony (Cindy) Arcuri of Boardman, Paula (Steve) Zorc of Parma Heights; and Gregory (Amy) Arcuri of Salem. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Tipton of Columbiana, and by his many grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
Frank was an Army veteran, having served stateside during the 1950s. He had two careers that filled his work life. His early days were spent in the grocery business and included managing the former Thorofare Supermarket in East Liverpool. He later began a career in insurance, establishing his own employer/employee benefits business, Arcuri and Associates, Columbiana which his sons now operate.
Frank was always dedicated to his work, but even more so to his family and his religious and civic activities. He was a member of St. Jude Parish in Columbiana and grew up in St. Ann's Parish in East Liverpool where he served for many years on the Parish Council, as a lector, and in many other capacities. A Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Frank was a former Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, and held many other district and state offices. He formerly served the local Catholic Charities Board (two years as President) and the Youngstown Diocese Pastoral Council. Over the years, he also served the United Way, Senior Housing Council, Family & Community Services, and the Red Cross. Frank was an East Liverpool High School graduate of the Class of 1951 and formerly served the East Liverpool Alumni Association where he had an active role in the rebuilding of the clock tower. He also served on his class reunion committees.
Frank was deeply honored to be recognized for his service to the Catholic Church with the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice (a Papal recognition). His fellow Knights also honored him with a Columbianism Award in 2001 for dedication to family, church, country, and the Knights of Columbus. Frank also served as a trustee for the Woodland Run Condo Association, where he and Ida resided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 7th St., in Columbiana, followed by a luncheon also at St. Jude Parish Hall. Burial will follow at Columbiana County Memorial Park in Calcutta. Friends may call at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana from 2- 8 p.m. on Sunday.
