January 24, 2008 - East Palestine - Francis H. Ward, 82, of 49873 SR 14, died Thursday evening at his home.
Mr. Ward was born November 16, 1925 in East Palestine, a son of Wilmer and Edna Felger Ward and had lived in this area all of his life. He served in the US Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Edward L. McGuckin Post #4579 VFW.
He had been employed as an inspector at Babcock & Wilcox in Beaver Falls, PA. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the former Ward's Market in Unity for several years.
His wife, the former Dorothy E. VanFossan, whom he married June 23, 1951, died October 30, 2007.
He is survived by a son, Wesley Ward of East Palestine; and a grandson, Craig Ward.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Mr. Robert Helbeck, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the combined group from the VFW and the American Legion in East Palestine.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday.
