Leetonia-February 24, 2004-Francesco (Frank) Carfora, age 73, of 288 E. Main Street, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday at Alliance City Hospital of heart failure.
Mr. Carfora was born January 29, 1931 in Santa Maria A Vico, Italy, a son of Giovanni and Carolina De Lucia Carfora and had come to the United States in 1962.
Frank was a grinder for Eljer Plumbingware in Salem for 21 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening. While in Italy he served in the Italian Army.
He is survived by his wife, the former Concetta Buffone, whom he married September 19, 1964; a daughter and son in law, Daniel and Carolina Carfora Ferry of Leetonia; five sisters, Mrs. Vincenza Savinell and Mrs. Filomena DiMarzo both of Steubenville, Mrs. Michele (Antonietta) Crisci of McKees Rocks, PA, Mrs. Assunta Sposito of Columbus and Mrs. Pasquale (Catarina) Carfora of Milan, Italy; a brother and sister in law, Dominic (Luigi) Carfora of Santa Maria A Vico, Italy; two brother in laws, John (Donna) Buffone of Leetonia and Frank Buffone of East Palestine; four grandchildren, Trent, Roman, Taran and Marco Ferry all of Leetonia; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A sister, Giovannina Carfora and a brother, Biagio Carfora is deceased.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with Reverend Edward Brienz officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 pm Friday at Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia where a rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
